What part of speech is loaf?

"Loaf" can be two different parts of speech, depending on how it's used:

* Noun: When referring to the baked bread itself. Example: "I bought a fresh loaf of sourdough."

* Verb: When referring to the act of resting or lounging in a lazy or idle manner. Example: "The cat loafed on the couch all afternoon."
