What language do the Sami speak?

The Sami people speak a group of languages called Sami languages, which are part of the Uralic language family. There are 11 distinct Sami languages:

* Northern Sami: The most widely spoken Sami language, with around 20,000 speakers.

* Lule Sami: Spoken in Sweden, with around 2,000 speakers.

* Pite Sami: Spoken in Sweden, with around 400 speakers.

* Ume Sami: Spoken in Sweden, with around 20 speakers.

* Southern Sami: Spoken in Norway and Sweden, with around 300 speakers.

* Inari Sami: Spoken in Finland, with around 300 speakers.

* Skolt Sami: Spoken in Finland, with around 300 speakers.

* Ter Sami: Spoken in Norway, with around 100 speakers.

* Akkadian Sami: Extinct language spoken in Norway.

* Kem Sami: Extinct language spoken in Russia.

* Kildin Sami: Spoken in Russia, with around 300 speakers.

It's important to note that the number of speakers is constantly changing and there are ongoing efforts to revitalize some of the less spoken languages.
