Is able a prefix suffix or root?

"Able" is a suffix.

Here's why:

* Suffixes are added to the end of a word to change its meaning or grammatical function.

* Prefixes are added to the beginning of a word.

* Roots are the basic building blocks of words, often carrying the core meaning.

"Able" is added to the end of words to indicate the ability or capacity to do something, for example:

* *read* + *able* = readable

* *manage* + *able* = manageable

* *love* + *able* = lovable
