What does albeit mean?

"Albeit" means although, though, or even though. It's used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or qualifies the previous statement.

Here are some examples:

* The movie was long, albeit entertaining. (The movie was long, but it was still entertaining)

* He finished the marathon, albeit in last place. (He finished the marathon, even though he was in last place)

* She accepted the job offer, albeit with some hesitation. (She accepted the job offer, although she was hesitant)

Essentially, "albeit" acknowledges a difference or qualification, but doesn't negate the main point of the sentence.
