What part of speech is standstill?

"Standstill" can be two parts of speech depending on its use:

* Noun: When referring to a state of inactivity or complete stop.

* Example: "The traffic came to a standstill."

* Adjective: Describing something that is not moving or progressing.

* Example: "The negotiations have been at a standstill for weeks."

The most common use is as a noun, but it can function as an adjective as well.
