What is cuneiform used for today?

Cuneiform, the ancient writing system of Mesopotamia, is not used for everyday communication today. It's considered an ancient script, much like hieroglyphics or Linear B.

However, cuneiform is still studied and researched by historians, archaeologists, and linguists for several purposes:

* Deciphering ancient texts: Cuneiform tablets contain valuable information about ancient Mesopotamian history, culture, religion, and everyday life.

* Understanding ancient languages: Studying cuneiform helps us understand the Akkadian, Sumerian, Babylonian, and other languages spoken in Mesopotamia.

* Preserving cultural heritage: Preserving and understanding cuneiform contributes to our understanding of ancient civilizations and their contributions to human history.

While we don't use cuneiform for everyday communication, its study remains vital for understanding our past and the development of human civilization.
