In what publication did the word gremlin first appear?

The word "gremlin" first appeared in "The Gremlins", a pamphlet published in 1942 by Roald Dahl.

Dahl, a British author and former Royal Air Force fighter pilot, wrote the pamphlet as a humorous explanation for the many technical malfunctions plaguing Allied aircraft during World War II.

The pamphlet, which was widely distributed and popular among RAF personnel, described gremlins as mischievous little creatures who lived inside aircraft and caused all sorts of problems.
