While elements of science fiction might be present in some works, the exam has never featured a science fiction novel as a primary text for analysis.
This doesn't mean science fiction isn't considered "literature" or that it's not worthy of analysis. However, the College Board's focus on the exam seems to lean towards more traditional genres like:
* Classic Literature: Novels like *Pride and Prejudice*, *The Great Gatsby*, or *Moby Dick*
* Poetry: Works by renowned poets like Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, and Robert Frost
* Drama: Plays by authors like Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, and Tennessee Williams
Keep in mind that the College Board might introduce a science fiction text in the future, so it's important to stay updated with their guidelines. However, as of now, science fiction remains an unexplored territory for the AP Literature and Composition Exam.
