What is the area of Tamil Eelam?

The term "Tamil Eelam" refers to the proposed independent state for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

It is important to note that Tamil Eelam is not a recognized state. It was a goal of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant group that fought for an independent Tamil state.

However, the LTTE was defeated in 2009, and Tamil Eelam does not exist as a physical entity.

Therefore, there is no definitive area associated with Tamil Eelam.

The LTTE's proposed territory, however, generally encompassed the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, which have a large Tamil population.

The area of these two provinces combined is approximately 16,336 square kilometers (6,307 square miles).

It's crucial to remember that this is just the proposed area of a non-existent state. The current political reality in Sri Lanka is vastly different.
