What countries are controlled by the French?

France does not control any other countries in the traditional sense of the word.

It's important to note that:

* France has overseas territories and departments which are integral parts of the French Republic, meaning they are represented in the French Parliament and enjoy the same rights and freedoms as citizens on the mainland. These include:

* Overseas departments: Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Reunion, Mayotte

* Overseas collectivities: Saint Pierre and Miquelon, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy

* Overseas territories: French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Clipperton Island

* France also has historical ties and influences in former colonies, which are now independent nations. However, this doesn't equate to control.

* The concept of controlling other countries is outdated and colonial and is not a reflection of modern international relations.

Therefore, it is inaccurate to say France "controls" any countries. Instead, it has specific relationships with its overseas territories and historical ties with former colonies.
