What 35 countries have French as their main language?

It's not quite that many! While French is a major language spoken in many parts of the world, only 29 countries officially recognize it as their main language. These are:

* Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo

* Europe: Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Monaco, Switzerland (part of the country)

* North America: Canada (part of the country)

* Caribbean: Haiti

* Oceania: Vanuatu

It's important to note that in some of these countries, other languages may be spoken alongside French. For example, in Canada, English is also an official language. Additionally, there are many other countries where French is spoken by significant populations but is not the main language.
