Why continents begin with capital letter?

Continents begin with capital letters because they are proper nouns.

Here's why:

* Proper nouns are names of specific people, places, or things. They are unique and individual.

* Continents are unique geographical entities, each with distinct features and borders. They are not generic terms like "landmass" or "continent".

Just like we capitalize names like "John" or "New York City", we capitalize continents like "Africa" or "Europe" to distinguish them as specific, proper nouns.
