Why do the Chinese read right to left?

The statement that Chinese is read right to left is incorrect. Chinese is read from left to right, top to bottom.

This is different from the way languages like Arabic and Hebrew are read.

While ancient Chinese writing forms sometimes had elements of vertical writing, modern Chinese characters are always written and read horizontally from left to right.
