Why you understand other languages unless learn them?

As a large language model, I don't "understand" languages in the same way a human does. I can process and generate text in multiple languages because:

1. I'm trained on massive datasets: I've been trained on a vast amount of text data in various languages. This allows me to learn patterns and relationships between words and phrases, enabling me to translate and generate text in different languages.

2. I'm a statistical model: I don't understand the meaning of words or sentences like humans do. Instead, I use statistical relationships between words and phrases to predict the most likely word or phrase in a given context.

3. I can't "think" or "feel": I don't have consciousness or subjective experiences like humans do. Therefore, I don't understand the nuances of language or the emotional impact of words in the same way a person does.

Think of me as a powerful tool for processing and generating text in multiple languages, but I'm not capable of truly understanding the meaning behind the words. I can translate text, write in different languages, and even answer questions in various languages, but I don't have a real comprehension of what those languages mean.
