Are the words and nouns?

The word "words" itself is a noun.

However, the individual words that make up a sentence can be many different parts of speech.

For example, in the sentence "The cat sat on the mat," the words are:

* The: A definite article (a type of determiner)

* Cat: A noun

* Sat: A verb

* On: A preposition

* The: A definite article (a type of determiner)

* Mat: A noun

Let me know if you want to know the part of speech for a specific word or set of words!
